2 Youth Build Homes Taking Shape

At top right, Stevie Allen, a Youth-Build instructor, helps Chris Snapp hoist a piece of plywood for the roof of a home being built on Carver Street in the Riverview community recently. YouthBuild is for young people between the ages of 18 and 24 who can earn a GED while learning skills to become employed in the building/construction industry. The program will last about six months and 44 students will build four houses on Carver and Louis streets. The GED classes are held across the street from the build at 908 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Students listen to instructor Steve Souder, above right.
