• KINGSPORT — Jarrett A. Hughes “Jay’s Day” will be held Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Dale Street Park. There will be a live performance by OWC — Officially Well Connected from Nashville. The group will perform gospel music. Free hot dogs, chips, baked beans and a drink will be provided. The public is encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the evening and a purple balloon to tie on the playground fence in memory of Hughes, who was shot to death in his family’s home in August.
