The highlight of the day was a police dog demonstration by Patrolman David Johnson and Sinko, of the Kingsport Police Department. Both kids and adults were very impressed by Sinko's skills in subduing a suspect, and finding marijuana hidden in the wheel of a pickup truck. The demonstrations prompted many questions from the onlookers, as to Sinko's demeanor, with Patrolman Johnson explaining that he's a hyper animal, very responsive to training, and always wanting to please.
There were plenty of games and activities for the kids, including the big inflatable slides, which we also found some adults experiencing as well. The kiddie train made the rounds around the church, and ring tosses testing the youngsters' accuracy. Later, carnival goers were treated to chilied hot dogs, chips and drinks.
The church also held a rummage sale with everything from shoes to clothes given way to folks who could use them.
