Local Front Yard Selected as a Kingsport Beauty Spot

When you get a chance, stop by Gloria Miller's home on Douglass Street in Riverview, and take a look at her beautiful garden spot in front of her home.

You can't miss it. It's the one with the big beautification award sign in it.

The Kingsport Housing and Redevelopment Authority has recognized Ms. Miller and several other residents as KHRA Beautification Award winners for the month of June.

While you're at it, be sure and tell her congratulations.

Her front yard was selected to represent the Riverview Community.
The winning properties were recognized for “setting outstanding examples of beautification and cleanliness.” With June being the one month when most of the flowers and plants bloom and spread, making the yard look nice, gives us pride in our homes and neighborhoods.

Judges, consisting of members of Keep Kingsport Beautiful’s Beautification Committee, selected one winner in each of the KHRA neighborhoods.

In addition to Ms. Miller, the winners are Robert E. Lee Apartments community, Ruby Ashbrook, Dale Street; Frank L. Cloud Apartments community, Janice Gilliam, Robertson Street; Dogwood Terrace Apartments community, Willie Overbay, Bowater Drive; Holly Hills Apartments, Bea Monk, Watterson Street; Holston Terrace Apartments, Bertha Gibson, Bowater Drive.
